Gmail's filters for "Primary" vs. "Promotions" seem like they got a lot looser all of a sudden

OK, gmail is losing it entirely. LLBean spam is now "primary" and twitter notifications are "promotions." Anyone else experiencing this weirdness?

hey @Google why did my gmail decide that every sale email I get should no longer be tucked away in the promotions tab but instead clog up my primary section so my phone buzzes every 30 seconds with a new useless email???

Gmail users ar news that promotional emails from corporations ar ending up in their main “Primary” inbox.

It’s driving Inbox Zero-ers insane. Gmail describes Promotions as “Deals, offers, and alternative promoting emails,” whereas emails in Primary ar outlined as “Person-to-person conversations and messages that don’t seem in alternative tabs.”
Google told BuzzFeed News it’s acting on a fix, however it didn't specify once users ought to expect inboxes to travel back to traditional.

In a statement, a proponent same, “We ar responsive to a difficulty in Gmail inflicting bound promotional email to be incorrectly categorised. we have a tendency to ar rolling out a fix shortly.”
Gmail unrolled a replacement style for its inbox in 2013 that mechanically types messages into four tabs: Primary, Social, Promotions, and Updates. The filters have discovered rather well...until recently.

These screenshots show that the styles of emails that were antecedently thought of “Promotions” — like sale announcements and promoting emails from corporations — ar currently showing underneath the first tab.

According to one user, Gmail mistakenly sent “hundreds” of emails to their Primary inbox.

Anyone else seeing problems in @gmail, where suddenly (yesterday) the Promotions and Primary tabs seem to be confused??? I'm getting hundreds of emails that should be going to Promotions, delivered to Primary. Kinda annoyed. #firstworldproblems #pleasemakethenotificationsstop

Another said that important Primary emails were ending up in the Promotions tab, and vice versa.

@gmail You guys working on a fix for e-mails going in the incorrect folders? I have promotions e-mails in my primary folder and important e-mails ending up in my promotions folder. This began yesterday.

If you can’t wait for Google’s update, you can manually filter out promotional emails from your Primary inbox.

On desktop, open an email that should belong in the Promotions tab. Click on the “more options” icon (with three dots) above the email subject line. Then select “Filter messages like these.”
