Washington:

The House Judiciary Committee will look for documents from more than 60 people and organizations as it investigates a possible obstruction of justice and abuse of power by President Donald Trump, the President of the Commission.

Committee Chair Jerrold Nadler told ABC channel "This Week" that the committee is seeking documents from the Justice Department, President Donald Trump Jr.'s son and Trump Organization's Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg. among others.

"We are going to investigate abuse of power, corruption ... and obstruction of justice," Nadler said. "It's our job to protect the rule of law."

"It is very clear that the president has obstructed justice," Nadler said. He added that it was too early to determine whether or not the indictment should be continued.

"Before you dismiss someone, you have to convince the American public that this should happen," he said.

By way of evidence of obstruction, Nadler cited Trump's dismissal in May 2017 of FBI director James Comey, who was conducting an investigation into Russia's activities in the 2016 US presidential election and a possible collusion with the Trump campaign.

This investigation was then assigned to the special lawyer Robert Mueller, who is expected to submit his findings to the US Attorney General in a few weeks.

Nadler also cited what he called Trump's attempts to intimidate witnesses during the investigation.

He said the committee would issue Monday the list of people and organizations for which it would request documents.

Trump denied his campaign worked with Moscow. "I am an innocent man persecuted by very bad, corrupt and corrupt people in an illegal witch hunt and who should never have been allowed to start," Trump said in a tweet on Sunday.

The White House and the Trump organization did not respond to requests for comment on Nadler's remarks.

Trump told a group of conservative activists and politicians Saturday that the investigators wanted to examine his finances and trade because no evidence of collusion was found. "Suddenly, they try to get you out with bullshit," he said.

While Mueller's investigation is focused on specific crimes, congressional polls will cast a wider net, Nadler said.

The testimony of Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, last week directly involved Trump in various crimes, including violations of campaign funding, Nadler said.

Congressional investigators will also examine whether Trump used the White House for personal enrichment, in violation of the constitutional clause on emoluments, he said.

"All these elements must be investigated and presented to the American people," said Nadler, whose committee would be leading any effort to remove the president. "This investigation goes far beyond collusion."

Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy attacked Nadler as having an impeachment program.

"They are setting up a whole new course because there is no connivance, so they want to build something else," he told ABC.

Several congressional committees are investigating Trump.

House of Representatives Democrat House Speaker Adam Schiff said his panel will look closely at the negotiations to build a Trump tower in Moscow, which Cohen says has continued in the 2016 presidential campaign.

"It was an agreement that brought him more money than any other in his life and it was an agreement in which he sought help from the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin himself, at one point where Putin was seeking redress for the sanctions, "Schiff told CBS in" Face the Nation ".
