Moscow:

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX Mockingbird, launched a Tesla car into space in 2018, Russian scientists sent their own red car outside the Earth, but this car was really just a toy.

In February 2018, SpaceX launched for the first time its reusable Falcon Heavy launcher, as well as a cherry red Tesla Roadster with a model named "Starman" at the wheel.

In response to the Musk space cascade, the team of the Russian State University of Tomsk launched a toy replica of the Red Zhiguli car belonging to Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, announced on Friday the Futurism.

Rogozin is known for his rivalry with Musk who often appears publicly as a sarcastic joke on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

In addition to the small car, Russian scientists also placed a small cut of a smiling Rogozin in the driver's seat.

Unlike "Starman", however, Rogozin's replica returned to Earth and landed about 2,000 kilometres from its launch site after about 16 hours of flight, the report said.

The Russian space rag targeting Musk was executed just days after Rogozin announced that he would not hire him for help with reusable rockets.

Although Rogozin has not yet met Musk, he often reacts publicly to the tweets of the CEO of SpaceX and criticises SpaceX for"killing competitors".
