China warned on Friday that it would take "countermeasures" if the US threatened to impose tariffs on China's 300 billion dollars as part of an escalation of its trade war.The Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that President Donald Trump's decision on the New September 1 tariffs was a "serious violation" of the truce reached with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in June. He did not specify the type of countermeasures to be taken, but China has suggested in the past that it could limit exports of the rare earths that are vital to the US technology industry, and it is also drawing up a blacklist of "unreliable"foreign companies.
