Putin’s troops abandon huge quantities of weapons fleeing Ukrainian blitz as attackers see ‘beginning of the end’ of war

Russian forces are abandoning massive amounts of weapons as they flee a misguided Ukrainian offensive that has brought them to the brink of collapse.

Pictures show that Vladimir Putin's forces have fled, leaving tanks and other equipment behind in the face of the attack, leading some of the attackers to believe they see the "beginning of the end" of the war.

Ukraine now says its forces have now liberated nearly 1,600 square miles of territory - a number that has tripled in the past two days.

The main city of Izyum is now in the hands of the Ukrainians and they are now only 50 miles from the Russian border as Moscow's forces are desperately withdrawing in an attempt to hold the land they have captured.
The rapid Russian withdrawal was highlighted by the mounds of ammunition and half-eaten food.

"The Russian withdrawal was too fast, they didn't have time to finish their lunches according to Ukraine's most senior soldier," Paul McNamara of Channel 4 reported.

"The flags around Kharkiv are again Ukrainian.

"In just five days, Ukrainian forces have reclaimed more territory than Russia has captured since April."

"I think it's the beginning of the end for the Russian occupiers," a 25-year-old Ukrainian soldier named Marty told The Telegraph.

“They were literally escaping from their positions,
Leave their possessions and head to the occupied territories.
I think more significant gains are coming."

Another soldier, Birdie, said his unit overheard a Russian tank unit saying "we're totally in a state of turmoil" before they fled.
