An enthusiast has been arrested in Saudi Arabia after claiming he dedicated a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca to the late Queen Elizabeth II.


And the Yemeni man posted a video of himself holding a banner dedicated to the Saudi monarch inside the Grand Mosque, among the holiest places in Islam.


And the videos circulating on the Internet show the man holding a banner written in Arabic and English that says: "Umrah for the soul of Queen Elizabeth II, may God be pleased with her, may her peace be in heaven and accept her among the righteous."

The footage shocked many devout Muslims after it was posted online.

The Saudi police later arrested the banner holder,
His identity was not revealed, on charges of "violating the regulations and instructions" of the holy place.

Al-Yamani was referred to the Public Prosecution Office to face the charges.
