Student spent £2MILLION on lavish lifestyle and designer handbags after bank accidentally gave her unlimited overdraft

 

A student has spent a whopping £2 million on a lavish lifestyle and designer handbags after her bank accidentally gave her unlimited overdrafts.

Kristen Jiaxin Lee, who was studying in Australia at the time, was also spending on an expensive apartment, while hiding a large part of the money by transferring around £2,500 to secret bank accounts.

The woman is said to have gone on a shopping trip for 11 months

While Lee was arrested and charged with the crimes, she was dropped when she appeared in court.

The Malaysian woman then ran away from her home to her family, and is now basically untraceable.

Lee, who was a chemical engineering student,

She got an unlimited overdraft from her Westpac bank after a processing error -

But she did not notice it for two years.

However, when she did, she set off on an 11-month spending spree - which added up to around £2.6m.

The extravagant purchases of the 21-year-old included handbags, clothes, jewelry, cell phones and a vacuum cleaner.

These items have been made by a number of luxury brands including Chanel, Cartier and Christian Dior.

She also lived in a luxurious penthouse.

The wrong bank caught in April 2015 -

Almost a year after Lee started spending big -

And a senior manager called her, asking her to clarify the whereabouts of the missing millions.

Lee previously claimed that she believed the money had been transferred to her account by her parents.

Her boyfriend, Vincent King, denied knowing the money.

When she found out that the police were trying to contact her about the money, Lee is understood to have arranged for herself to obtain an emergency Malaysian passport,

Allegedly, this could leave the country undetected.

Then she was arrested at Sydney Airport in the same year, when she tried to board a plane bound for Malaysia.
