Worker vanishes after being accidentally paid £150,000 for a month’s work – 300 times his salary

A worker has gone missing after he was mistakenly paid £150,000 for one month's wages - more than 300 times his usual salary.

The unnamed dispatch assistant at Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos was to be paid £450.

A worker withdrew after receiving £150,000 by mistake

Instead, the lucky man, who lives in Chile, accidentally received 330 times more into his account in May.

Instead of paying the company, he quit and ran away with the money. He has not been seen or heard from since.

According to local news outlet Diario Financiero,

The man reported the discrepancy in his salary to his deputy, who transferred it to the human resources department.

Confirming the error, HR asked him for a refund.

He agreed to return the extra amount and told the employer that he would go to the bank for a refund the next day.

When they failed to receive a notification from the bank confirming the transaction, the company attempted to contact the man.

He initially told Consorcio that he had slept too much and was going to the bank the next day, but when Consorcio tried to catch him for the next three days, they couldn't get to him.
The only call they received in return was from his lawyers - who offered his resignation.
The company had no opportunity to accept his decision to resign as the man did not respond to any further messages.
